In a relatively short space of time, SUVs have evolved from utilitarian and often awkward machines into vehicles that, some OEMs claim, can go as fast as a supercar. Many of those mainstream manufacturers now play in the high-performance SUV market, aiming to pulverize their opponents’ 60 mph times and doing everything they can to dominate those all-too-busy roads. However, long before the first widely recognized super SUV hit those roads, a tiny outfit in Italy was already building its own. One man felt that he could out-engineer the big guys like Lamborghini and, by mixing a little Corvette muscle with some Italian flair and bravado, produced his revolutionary RR 600.
