CityPlat has taken over the former Raleigh Kmart, which closed in 2018, and is in the process of converting it into a sports and entertainment-themed venue. The Triangle Business Journal reports the new tenants include a billiards and bowling facility, an indoor golf tenant, a basketball facility and the latest addition, a Gold’s Gym. Less than a year after purchasing the former Kmart in Raleigh, CityPlat has leased all but one of its spaces. CityPlat paid $14 million for the property.
The first businesses will open during the second quarter of next year, with the entire center opening by the end of 2026. CityPlat has spent between $5 and $6 million on renovations.
Nail Lab, a popular beauty spa with a full beverage bar, is taking space at the project as well. CityPlat is also relocating its office to the property from its headquarters at 107 Fayetteville St. downtown.
