SEMA’s Muscle Truck Battle
The 2025 SEMA Show is full of noise, and not just from exhausts. Ram arrived with a Mopar-built 1500 Street Truck and a Dodge Charger SIXPACK concept. The Street Truck blended low-slung stance and classic styling, while the Charger SIXPACK previewed Dodge’s muscle future in the hands of tuners.
But the Blue Oval had its own response. Alongside a turbocharged Maverick designed to show the small truck’s potential, Ford rolled out a 900-horsepower F-150 Raptor R project truck, built by Ford Performance Parts. It’s technically a project vehicle, but one that clearly fires a warning shot across Ram’s bow.

The Heart of a Supertruck
Under the hood sits the familiar 5.2-liter supercharged V8 from the standard Raptor R, but Ford Performance has fitted a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger kit to push output from 720 horsepower to over 900 hp. Torque hasn’t been specified, but it’s safe to expect a healthy bump from the stock 639 lb-ft.
The setup is more than a one-off experiment. Ford says the supercharger kit was engineered and tested to its own durability standards and could eventually be offered through its Ford Performance Parts catalog. Installed by a Ford dealer or ASE-certified tech, it would come with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty and remain CARB-certified and 50-state legal.
Visually, the project truck wears gloss carbon-fiber trim, METHOD Black wheels, and massive off-road tires. A Borla extreme cat-back exhaust with black chrome tips and a suite of RIGID off-road lights round out the build.

What’s Inside and What’s Next
Ford hasn’t revealed interior upgrades, though the concept’s cabin is expected to retain the production Raptor R’s rugged, tech-focused layout. What this project really signals is intent – Ford wants to prove there’s still room to push its most powerful pickup even further through Ford Performance Parts and Ford Accessories, even if this 900-hp monster never sees a showroom.
Ram’s two upcoming SRT trucks are right around the corner, but Ford seems determined to set the bar first – even if the 900-hp Raptor R remains a tantalizing factory tease. Yes, it won’t be for sale, but if you’re eyeing the Raptor R and want more oomph, know that it’s readily possible.
