According to a report from Hedges & Company, updated just last month, there should be around 1.644 billion cars in the world at present. H&C calculated around 619 million on the road in Asia, 431 million in Europe, 370 million in North America, and 105 million in South America, 69 million in the Middle East, and 50 million in Africa. The study reports about 75 vehicles in Antarctica, so the exact number should come out to 1,644,000,075. But seriously, it’s effectively impossible to count them all down to the last car, because who’s to say how many non-registered cars are out there? How would you count them?
