As somebody who makes a living writing about the latest goings on in the automotive industry, this writer can never complain about having more content to cover. But even so, it’s getting a little tiresome talking about Ford recalls every single week. It seems that even Ford has realized that things are getting out of control because, after announcing a new recall for nearly 1.5 million vehicles with faulty backup cameras, the Blue Oval has now announced that it will provide a new 15-year rearview camera extended recall for other rearview camera-equipped vehicles not included in the recall, which covers certain 2015-2019 vehicles with analog rearview cameras. Those vehicles are the following:
- 2015 Ford Fusion
- 2020-2022 Ford Escape
- 2015-2018 Ford Fiesta
- 2017 Ford Taurus

Ford’s Latest Recall For Almost 1.5 Million Vehicles
Ford
As noted in documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1,448,655 vehicles are impacted by the new recall, due to the rearview camera displaying a distorted, intermittent, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse. Unfortunately, these vehicles are too old to benefit from an over-the-air software update, so dealers will need to physically inspect and replace the actual camera as necessary. As usual for a recall, this will come at no cost to the customer. Vehicles covered under the recall (NHTSA ID number 25V695000) are as follows:
- 2015-2015 Ford Flex
- 2015 Ford Explorer
- 2015 Lincoln MKT
- 2015 Lincoln MKZ
- 2015-2016 Ford C-Max
- 2015-2016 Ford Escape
- 2015-2016 Ford Taurus
- 2016 Ford Fusion
- 2018-2019 Ford Taurus
- 2019 Lincoln MKT
- 2019 Ford Fiesta
- 2020 Ford Mustang
Second Massive Recall In As Many Months Will Require Patience
Jeremy Korzeniewski/Autoblog
Owners will be notified by mail this month, but a final remedy is only anticipated in June 2026, which must be highly frustrating. This comes after Ford was forced to recall a similar number of vehicles last month, which had resulted in at least 18 accidents related to a backup camera defect. As we noted when covering last month’s recall, Ford paid a $165 million civil penalty in November 2024 following an NHTSA investigation that found the automaker had delayed previous rearview camera recalls, thereby failing to comply with federal safety recall timelines. We’ve said it before, but hopefully this is the beginning of the end of Ford’s recall issues, because it’s been issuing more than any other automaker every year since 2020. In fact, in the first six months of this year alone, the Blue Oval beat an infamous record for annual recalls that GM held back in 2014.
