SUVs are now considered the “default family vehicle” by the majority of drivers in the US and beyond. Over the course of the last couple of decades, this body style has taken over from other options like the sedan and the wagon, catching the attention of consumers with its size and practicality. The SUV (and its smaller sibling, the crossover), is now one of the most popular types of vehicle in the US: some reports indicate SUVs may have made up as much as 58% of new vehicle sales in 2024.
