The very first information about the Android 17-based OxygenOS 17 update has just surfaced. It popped up on Telegram, and it has been relayed by OnePlus Club. Do take it with a grain of salt, though.
First OxygenOS 17 details are here
According to the provided information, OxygenOS 17 will bring a major system-wide fluidity update. It will improve camera zoom, as it is said, it will be much smoother for both photos and videos.
What else? Well, UI frame drops will be significantly reduced, while animations will be more fluid and responsive. System efficiency and stability will be enhanced as well, based on what was shared.
The last two changes mentioned are improved background app retention and overall battery performance. That’s basically everything that was shared. Even if all of this is true, we’re only scratching the surface, of course.
Google recently released the first beta of Android 17, while the stable build is expected in a couple of months. Based on a first beta, we’ll see plenty of refinements, first and foremost.
Quite a few additional changes are expected
In addition to the improvements mentioned for OxygenOS 17 in this article, OnePlus will probably add some new features and plenty more changes that are yet to surface. These changes, if accurate, will also relate to ColorOS 17, based on the similarities between the two OS’.
We are expecting to see both OxygenOS 17 and ColorOS 17 not long after Google releases the stable version of Android 17. OnePlus has been rather fast when it comes to releasing new versions of its OS, so we’re expecting the same to happen this year. It remains to be seen.
The OnePlus 15 was the first phone from the company to ship with OxygenOS 16. The OnePlus 16 could be the first phone to come with OxygenOS 17, based on that fact alone.
