Car accidents are harrowing and dangerous enough when safety equipment deploys correctly. However, for an unknown number of Americans, that may not be the case. The NHTSA is investigating seven failed airbag deployments in American vehicles, which led to five fatalities. Regulators believe these failed airbag deployments stemmed from one Chinese company selling counterfeit equipment.
