You can animate your Facebook profile picture with AI
Meta has announced that one of the new features coming to Facebook is the ability to animate your profile picture using AI.
“Choose from preset animations—like natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart—to bring your profile picture to life depending on how you’re feeling. We’ll add more animation options throughout the year so you can celebrate and express yourself during seasonal moments and special events,” says Meta.
To get started is pretty simple. All you need to do is select a photo, crop it, and let AI do its magic. However, Meta has some tips to optimize your animation. For starters, you’ll want a photo that only features a single person. This means that using group photos might not yield the best results. Secondly, your face has to be clearly visible. If it’s not, then the results may vary.
Once you’ve selected your photo, the AI will do its thing, and now you’ve got an animated profile photo that you can share on your feed.
But that’s not all
In addition to animating profile pictures using AI, Meta has announced other AI features that are coming to Facebook. This includes being able to restyle your Stories and Memories. Instead of picking styles yourself, which can feel a bit time-consuming, Facebook will let you use text-based prompts to come up with a style. There are different pre-made styles that you can choose from, just in case you can’t be bothered.
We know that AI slop is a real problem on social media, but these little AI updates seem genuinely fun. We wouldn’t go as far as calling it useful, but if you’re looking to spice things up on your feed, this is one way to go about it.
Facebook is also introducing the ability to add animated backdrops to your text-based posts. Previously, users could use colors for backdrops, but now, you can choose from animated images too. These features are rolling out as we speak. So, make sure you have the latest version of the app installed, and you should be good to go.
