The city of Baytown will develop the new ExxonMobil Baytown Events Center. Officials expect to construct a multipurpose facility with approximately 150,000 to 200,000 gross square feet, including 5,000 square feet of meeting space and a seating capacity of 3,000 to 5,000. The venue will be at Decker Drive and Market Street in the heart of Baytown.
The city began planning the project in 2022 when Exxon Mobil Corp. committed $75 million to the facility as part of an economic development agreement. When completed in a few years, the venue is expected to bring approximately 205,000 visitors to Baytown annually. The Houston Business Journal reports that similar facilities generate approximately $30 million to $70 million annually in tourism.
The city of Baytown is partnering with a number of well-known organizations to develop the project, including the Harris County Sports & Convention Corp., Venue Solutions Group, ASM Global, Husch Blackwell, Elmore Communications, Patiño Strategies and Masterson Advisors.Â
