For almost a year, Disney has been talking about the relaunch of its ESPN streaming service, and now we finally have a date for this new service. The ESPN live sports streaming service will launch on August 21, which happens to be he same day as FOX’s debut of its own standalone streaming service.
In addition to a launch date, we also have a price – $29.99 per month, or $299.99 per year. We knew that this service would not be cheap, considering most sports are pretty expensive to stream. But the service will include all of ESPN’s linear networks – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, as well as ESN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX. The company says that this covers “47,000 live events each year, on-demand replays, studio shows, original programming, and more.”
This service will also include popular shows like SportsCenter, Get Up, First Take, NFL Live, The Pat McAfee Show, Pardon the Interruption, College GameDay, NBA Today, Inside the NBA, The Rich Eisen Show, and more.
ESPN also brings WWE PLE’s starting in 2026
Along with this announcement, ESPN and WWE announced that its premium live events would be moving from Peacock over to ESPN in 2026. ESPN apparently paid $1.6 billion for five years for all of WWE’s premium live events. Which is more than double what Peacock paid back in 2021.
This means that the new ESPN streaming service will have something for everyone, making that $30/month price tag a bit easier to swallow. And for football fans, there’s even more good news. The NFL has taken a 10% stake in ESPN, and the network will also be expanding the number of NFL games it airs.
The service launches in a couple of weeks, just in time for the College Football and NFL seasons.
