Teresa Helm, one of the survivors of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, blasted the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday over its treatment of Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.
“Why on earth has she been moved from Florida to — it basically is prison spa,” Helm said during a news conference at the Capitol. “Let’s be real.”
Helm, who discussed how Maxwell lured her to becoming Epstein’s victim, added that none of the survivors were told about the relocation decision before it happened.
“None of us were consulted,” she said.
Maxwell, who was Epstein’s ex-girlfriend and convicted on sex trafficking charges in 2021, was relocated from a federal prison in Florida to a lower-security site in Texas in July — just days after meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to discuss Epstein, who died by suicide in prison while awaiting trial in 2019.
The Justice Department didn’t immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment on Helm’s remarks.
The DOJ released audio and a transcript last month from Maxwell’s meeting with Blanche. Helm said she found the audio “triggering” because of Maxwell’s calm voice and “lies.”
“Nothing can be believed from what she says, because she’s been charged with perjury,” Helm said. “I sat there and listened to this woman’s voice lie and there was no pushback from Todd Blanche.”
“Does he even have the facts to be able to push back on her?” she continued. ” The feelings that come up listening to this woman’s voice is repulsive.”
