Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy S26 series last week. The company showcased the standard Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26 Plus, and the top-tier Galaxy S26 Ultra. As users begin to look closer at the mid-sized Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus, one question consistently tops the search results: does it offer expandable storage via a microSD card?
The short answer is no. There is no MicroSD or SD card slot on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus. This may disappoint long-time Android fans, but it has become the norm for high-end smartphones in the last few years. There are two main reasons why manufacturers have stopped using external cards. First, internal storage is much faster and reliable than even the best MicroSD cards. Second, removing the slot frees up valuable internal space, allowing for larger batteries and/or slimmer designs.
Although you cannot expand the storage physically, the Galaxy S26 Plus remains flexible regarding connectivity. In the United States, the device features a classic Nano-SIM port and offers support for dual eSIM. For those purchasing the international variant, the phone typically supports dual Nano-SIM alongside dual eSIM capabilities. This makes it an excellent choice for frequent travelers.
Flagship performance and features
Beyond the storage debate, the Galaxy S26 Plus arrives with impressive raw power. US customers will find the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset from Qualcomm under the hood. To keep the lights on, Samsung included a 4,900mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging. An upgrade this year is the wireless charging speed, which now reaches 20W.
The rear camera system continues to offer the same versatility as always. It has a 50MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. For those who prioritize selfies and video calls, the 12MP front camera includes Dual Pixel PDAF for fast and accurate focusing.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy S26 Plus comes in two storage sizes: 256GB and 512GB. Both have 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. You can pre-order the phone for $1,099.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung Experience Stores, and major carriers. Finally, those interested will be able to buy it directly starting on March 11, 2026.
