If you’ve been waiting for the chance to drop a factory-fresh Hemi V8 into the new Charger, your moment has arrived. One of the wildest crate engines ever offered by an OEM is back on the shelf, and it’s as unapologetic as ever. Stellantis is once again making its outrageous 1,000-horsepower Hellephant A30 available through Direct Connection.

The Hellephant A30, a supercharged Hemi, is back in stock with 1,000 horsepower (745 kW) and 950 lb-ft (1287 Nm) of torque. Interested buyers will just need a spare $35,000 lying around to purchase one.
The engine, available through Stellantis’ Mopar Direct Connection site, is built around a newly-designed Gen III aluminum Hemi block with reinforced six-bolt mains, forged internals, and a stout IHI twin-screw supercharger. Importantly, Direct Connection won’t allow buyers to order one without providing a VIN first.
That said, it’s clear that this is for those who know a thing or two about restomods and motor swaps so providing a VIN will likely be no big deal.
This isn’t the first time that Mopar has dabbled in four-figure horsepower crate engines, either. As pointed out by Mopar Insiders, when the original Hellephant debuted back in 2018, it did so with a $29,995 price tag. That might sound like a lot, but it sold out in roughly two days thanks to demand from builders and collectors alike.
At that time, production was minimal (likely around 100 units), and enthusiasts who missed the initial allocation were left scouring auctions and private sales for examples that now change hands for even more than they originally cost. There’s also one more important thing to consider with this new Hellephant release.
It could very well signal that Stellantis has given the green light to the powers that be to build more wild Hemi engines. We knew the Hemi was in the midst of a comeback but the Hellephant is the most extreme version Mopar has ever made.
That makes it seem all but inevitable that we’ll see another Hellcat V8 pop up in something else with a Stellantis badge very soon. It could be as soon as January 1 even.
