Serverfarm is planning a $137 million data center project in northwest Harris County.
The project will be located at 4801 Betka Road, northwest of Houston, and is expected to span 565,000 square feet. HKS Inc. is the design firm for the project, which has a construction timeline beginning in July 2025 and ending in July 2026. No word yet on the company pursuing incentives from Harris County.
In September, Serverfarm announced the acquisition of two data center sites near George Bush Intercontinental Airport, financed by equity commitments from Manulife. Those data centers are expected to have a capacity of over 500 megawatts.
The Houston Business Journal reports a report from Cushman & Wakefield Inc. found that among 569 data-center facilities in markets across the Americas, the vacancy rate stood at 4.9% at the end of 2024, and 83% of upcoming capacity is already pre-leased. In the second half of 2024, North American markets added 1.5 gigawatts of operational capacity, reaching a total of 20 GW.
