Pacifico Energy can start work on a data center in West Texas. The Dallas Business Journal reports that the company claims to be the largest fully permitted data center campus in the United States. The site is permitted for up to 7.65 gigawatts of gas-fired power generation.
The GW Ranch Project will use a private grid that combines natural gas turbines, solar and battery storage. Pacifico Energy said this enables the growth of artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure without impacting energy costs or the power grid.
Dubbed GW Ranch, the project will be built on more than 8,000 acres in Pecos County, south of Odessa. The company said construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter, with the first power being delivered in Q1 2027 and 1 gigawatt of generation capacity coming online by 2028.
The project could be expanded to provide more than 5 gigawatts, without further regulatory approvals, by 2031.
