
The Dallas metro area ranks 2nd nationwide for new apartment construction in 2025.Â
More than half a million new apartments are on track to open across the U.S. in 2025, and Texas stands out as the nation’s largest builder, expecting about 81,400 new rentals this year. Â
Here are more insights from RentCafe.com’s Apartment Construction report:Â
- Dallas is set to welcome the largest share of Texas’s new apartments in 2025 — 28,958 rentals, or roughly 35% of the state’s total new units.Â
- This surpasses the combined construction volume in the Houston and San Antonio metro areas, which together will add 22,500 units.Â

- Dallas proper is leading the metro’s building spree with 5,780 new units estimated to open in 2025.Â
- Close behind is Fort Worth with nearly 3,800 units, followed by McKinney with around 2,000units. Denton is on track to open 1,700 new apartments by the end of the year.Â
