- Jaguar Land Rover sales have plummeted in the wake of a cyber attack.
- FY26 second quarter retail sales fell 17.1% from last year and 8.7% from Q1.
- The results were blamed on production stoppages, tariffs, and the Jaguar revamp.
The attack on Jaguar Land Rover couldn’t have come at a worse time as Jaguar was in the midst of a complete rethink. As a result, the company was effectively being dependent on Land Rover.
Unfortunately, a “cyber incident” plunged the automaker into chaos in early September. This forced them to shut down systems and suspend production.

While the automaker is in a “phased restart” of operations, the company just released second quarter sales for FY26. They were brutal as wholesale volumes fell 24.2% compared to last year and 24.2% compared to the first quarter. The popular Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender made up 76.7% of wholesale volumes in the quarter, which was up from 67.0% a year ago as the company has been focusing on their most profitable models.
On the retail side of the equation, sales fell 17.1% from last year to 85,495 units. Sales fell in all markets with the biggest drops coming from the United Kingdom (‑32.3%), China (‑22.5%), and the Middle East and North Africa region (‑15.8%). Retail sales also fell 12.1% in Europe and 9% in North America.

JLR noted it was a “challenging quarter” and said the declines reflected “production stoppages … from the cyber incident, the planned wind down of legacy Jaguar models … and incremental US tariffs impacting JLR’s US exports.” That’s a punishing combination, but things are starting to turn around.
As JLR CEO Adrian Mardell explained, they’re beginning a phased restart of manufacturing operations this week. As part of this effort, engine production is scheduled to resume in Wolverhampton tomorrow. Vehicle production will then follow shortly in Nitra and Solihull.
Mardell added, “I would like to thank our customers, suppliers, colleagues and retailers for their commitment, hard work and endeavour in recent weeks to bring us to this moment. We know there is much more to do but our recovery is firmly underway.”
