It’s a shame that diesel has never really caught on in the US as a powerplant for sedans and SUVs, but at least some of us have got the right idea when it comes to pickups, packing these engines into full-size and super-duty trucks like the Ram 1500 and the F-250. The fact of the matter is that some of the most durable engines ever built happen to run on diesel.
