Claire’s, a mall boutique chain favored by tweens, teens, and young women, is set to close more than 290 stores nationwide as part of its bankruptcy process. As part of this nationwide restructuring, Claire’s Holdings LLC will close five stores in the Phoenix area: The Pavilions at Talking Stick, The Shops at Norterra, Christown Spectrum, Arrowhead Towne Center and the Outlets North Phoenix.
Three Phoenix area stores, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Phoenix Premium Outlets and Arizona Mills in Tempe, will remain open.
Claire’s Holdings, which announced on August 20 that it had sold its North American business to private equity firm Ames Watson for $104 million, listed more than 290 stores it planned to close in a court filing on Monday, August 25. Stores to be closed include 235 Claire’s locations in the U.S. and 56 Icing stores. The filing also listed 830 stores – 785 Claire’s and 45 Icing – not expected to close immediately.
