
Most established automakers are staring intently into their rearview mirrors as Chinese competitors come into closer focus. Many authorities once dismissed Chinese companies like BYD as imitators, but these automakers are now making rapid strides forward in this high-stakes world, as speed has become the new currency. Remarkably, some of these OEMs have been able to slash their vehicle development times from an industry average of around 60 months down to only 18.
