City leaders, club owners and stakeholders for Chicago Fire FC recently broke ground on the new $750 million stadium in the city’s South Loop.
Pepper Construction, GMA Construction Group and All Construction Group are partnering to build the venue. Designed by Gensler, the stadium will accommodate over 22,000 spectators and feature a grass playing surface.
Billionaire Joe Mansueto, founder of investment research firm Morningstar and owner of the team, will privately fund the 22,000-seat stadium, designed as the centerpiece of Phase 1 of The 78, Related Midwest’s mixed-use development and neighborhood along the Chicago River.
“This is a historic day for Chicago Fire FC, and for the city we are proud to call home,” said Mansueto. “This stadium is about investing in Chicago and creating a world-class home for our fans, players, and community. The venue is scheduled to open in 2028 and will host sport, music and community events year-round.
