(NewsNation) — Michigan-based Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory is recalling two popular candy bars over the potential presence of undeclared allergens, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The voluntary recall, issued on Oct. 24, just days before Halloween, applies to Peanut Butter Crush full-size bars due to undeclared cashew and Ca$hew Cow full-size bars due to undeclared peanut.
The mix-up resulted from a “temporary breakdown in the production and packaging process,” according to the announcement.
The recalled products were distributed to retailers in Michigan and New York, and so far, no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews or peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” according to the announcement.
Consumers can return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund. For questions, consumers can contact Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory at 877-632-9264.
