Toromont Industries Ltd., owner of AVL Manufacturing, bought a 232,310-square-foot building at 13006 Sam Neely Road this week. Public real estate records indicate the company paid $41.8 million for the facility. The Charlotte Business Journal reports that AVL announced last month that it would invest $56 million and create more than 325 jobs at the new manufacturing facility. Canada-based AVL is building its plant at the Westinghouse Logistics Park.
AVL’s new facility will build enclosures for industrial power generators. AVL’s products supply backup power to large data centers, among other uses.
The building was acquired from LBA Logistics. That firm had purchased the 19-acre site from The Keith Corp. in 2022 for $8.7 million.
Avison Young’s Tom Tropeano, Chris Loyd, Gray Gaines and Chris Skibinski represented LBA in the deal with Toromont/AVL.
AVL received incentives to bring its first U.S. facility to southwest Charlotte, where it can provide jobs with an average annual salary of $90,088.
