The history of the electric car, from the battery-powered Model T to the Tesla Cybertruck, has always been a process of two steps forward, one step back. If you want to go completely gasless, you’ve got more options today than you had a decade ago, but you’re going to be spending more on your car than you would have if you bought it before the EV credits ran out. The technology gets better every day, and the public is more accepting of electric cars than ever, but incentives dry up, infrastructure bills are shot down, and periods of rapid progress are brought to a screeching, if ultimately temporary, halt.
