BMW’s Neue Klasse models are set to be a major leap forward over its existing electric offerings. They’ll feature new styling, rear-biased drivetrains, and apparently some advanced computers. The company revealed some details about the latter this week. Apparently Neue Klasse cars will feature four main computers to run everything. BMW likes to call them “Superbrains.” We do not. We will continue to call them computers. The company claims they provide 20 times the computing power of current BMWs, and that power will help with the usual tech features such as better infotainment, AI assistance, and driver aids. There’s another aspect of the computer system we find much more interesting, though, and it has to do with weight savings.
