The latest IFA event saw a plethora of important announcements and new tech showcases. There was even room for pet robots! Such is the case with SwitchBot, which brought Noa and Niko, their AI-powered robotic pets, to the conference. The product could be considered a “concept” since there are no official commercialization plans yet. However, the possibilities that having these SwitchBot’s adorable AI pets roaming around your home and interacting with your kids bring make them take one of our IFA 2025 awards.
Noa and Niko are SwitchBot’s new AI-powered robot pets for home
As we previously said, SwitchBot has no marketing plans for the AI robotic pets Noa and Niko yet. Still, they teased some key features. Starting with their design, clearly aimed at being attractive to children or anyone who wants to set a “kawaii” aesthetic at home. They’re basically stuffed animals with wheels that can move autonomously throughout your house.
As expected from a piece of advanced technology in late 2025, there is AI built in. In this case, Noa and Niko use it to seamlessly navigate your home. Think of it as a mapping system like that used by robot vacuum cleaners. They’re also able to recognize family members, enabling more interactions with them. This can be especially useful for children at home, setting up specific patterns or interactions for the robot to recognize each of them individually. According to SwitchBot, their AI robot pets can respond to gestures and emotions and even show “feelings” of their own. These capabilities will allow them to offer the best interactions for multiple situations.
Let’s hope SwitchBot gives the project a commercial launch in the near future. The concept seems quite attractive and interesting. It would also be nice to see more possibilities, such as the pets being able to respond to relatively advanced requests. An appropriate price tag would also determine the product’s success. Noa and Niko could take the place that Samsung has been trying to take for years with Ballie but does not yet dare to take the step for one reason or another.
