For those who love the great outdoors, there’s a new piece of technology that could redefine what’s possible. We are talking about the Hypershell X Ultra, a lightweight exoskeleton designed to make walking, running, and hiking feel almost effortless. Showcased at the IFA 2025 event, the Hypershell X Ultra’s potential to boost natural human capabilities has earned it one of our awards.
HyperShell X Ultra exoskeleton can help you run and cycle faster
The Hypershell X Ultra is powered by a new AI MotionEngine Ultra. This clever hardware uses over a dozen integrated sensors to adapt to your movements in real time. Whether you’re climbing a steep trail or jogging on a flat path, the system adjusts to provide just the right amount of support. It’s not about replacing your effort but amplifying it, helping you move with less strain.
Hypershell claims the X Ultra can reduce the physical effort of walking by 20% and cycling by an impressive 39%. It can also provide a remarkable 63% increase in hip flexor endurance. This basically means you can go farther and stay on the trail longer. The motors can deliver up to 1000W of force. In terms of autonomy, the exoskeleton batteries provide a massive range of up to 60 kilometers (about 37 miles). This is a substantial leap from the previous generation’s 17.5 km.

The device is also a first in its class, as it’s the only outdoor exoskeleton to have SGS approval. It also comes with five new intelligent modes for different terrains. The list includes terrain like sand, snow, and even a “Descent Assist” to protect your knees on downhills. For enhanced control, it offers support for the Hypershell+ app on watchOS, allowing for greater hands-free control.
The Hypershell X Ultra weighs just 1.8 kilograms (3.9 lbs), and it’s made with aerospace-grade materials. It’s a compelling tool for anyone who wants to push their personal limits and rediscover the joy of adventure without the physical barriers.
