For quite a long time now, small cars and hatchbacks on the market have been offered with high-performance variations. While these sportier models don’t necessarily come equipped with supercharged V8s or something just as heavy-handed, they do typically come with options like manual transmissions and turbocharged, four-cylinder engines. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, this niche small car market exploded in the US thanks to the amount of fun cars like that could produce, all while sporting typically cheap prices.
