The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is right around the corner, and before it even launched, it already has a new challenger. The device in question is the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, which was announced by the company. It is the company’s second-generation flip phone foldable.
The Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 is here and it will compete directly with the Galaxy Z Flip 7
This is a truly powerful handset, a flagship-grade one. It will compete directly with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra. It has two cameras on the back, and a large cover display that goes around them.
The Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor from Qualcomm. That is Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chip, needless to say. It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 flash storage.
A 6.86-inch main foldable AMOLED display is used here. It has a resolution of 2912 x 1224, and it also offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). The peak brightness here is 3,200 nits, while HDR10+ is supported, as is Dolby Vision.
A rather large cover display is included, with all the bells and whistles
The cover display measures 4.01 inches, and it’s an AMOLED panel. The resolution here is 1392 x 1208, and this panel also has a 120Hz refresh rate. This panel’s peak brightness is 3,200 nits, while HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are supported.
A 5,165mAh battery is a part of the package, while the phone supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging. Stereo speakers are included here, as is Dolby Vision. Bluetooth 5.4 is supported, as is Wi-Fi 7.
A 50-megapixel main camera (OIS, Leica Summilux lens) sits on the back, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (115-degree FoV, macro photography). A 32-megapixel snapper sits on the front.
A side-facing fingerprint scanner is here, along with hinge improvements
A side-facing fingerprint scanner is also a part of the offering here. Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 comes pre-installed on top of Android. The version of Android was not mentioned, but we’re guessing it’s Android 15.
A “three-link, four-floating plate” hinge boosts structural strength by 2x. It also improves drop resistance by 20% and enhances impact protection by 30%. The phone is certified for 200,000 folds by CQC and SGS.
The global model will likely launch later on
The Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 measures 166.89 x 73.8 x 7.57mm when open, and 86.13 x 73.8 x 15.87mm when folded. The device weighs 199 grams. It comes in Checkered Gold, Green, Purple, and White variants. It was announced in China, but a global variant is likely coming later on.
