Historically, foldable phones have presented three immutable characteristics: they are beautiful, they are innovative, but they are fragile. Most users still treat their foldables with a level of caution that they wouldn’t apply to a traditional “slab” handset. However, HONOR wants to challenge that narrative with its HONOR Magic V6 Red Edition, an upcoming device of which the brand is not only boasting of a striking color but also of durability and resistance improper for a foldable phone.
Luxury meets iron in this red and gold foldable
The Red Edition is far more than just a simple color swap. The device features a deep red rear panel that elegantly contrasts with a gold-colored metal frame. The back of the handset is dominated by a circular camera unit housing a triple rear camera setup and a dual LED flash. There’s a subtle HONOR branding placed at the bottom. Despite its slim profile and thin hinges, the Magic V6 maintains a functional layout with the power button and volume controls conveniently located on the right side. On the front, the handset sports a hole-punch display cutout with impressively thin bezels.
The HONOR Magic V6 Red Edition is a durability beast
The HONOR Magic V6 aims to position itself as a benchmark for ruggedness in the foldable market. According to official data shared by the company, it is currently the only foldable to achieve both IP68 and IP69 ratings. This means it can resist much more than a quick dip in the pool. We are talking about that it’s built to withstand high-pressure water jets and extreme dust. These scenarios would usually spell disaster for a device with so many moving parts.
The materials used are the secret behind the phone’s strong structure. HONOR applied what they call a “Super Steel Hinge” with special commercial-grade steel that is rated at 2800MPa.
The screen itself is also durable. We already know that foldable screens are very easy to scratch and break. HONOR has, however, added a stronger inner screen made of UTG (Ultra Thin Glass). They’ve also worked on visibility to improve the user experience, reaching an industry-leading 1.5% reflection rate. This keeps the screen clear even in bright sunlight while also being highly resistant to the typical wear and tear.
The company has officially scheduled the global launch for March 1, 2026, during its “AI Device Ecosystem Era” showcase. The event will take place just a day before MWC kicks off.
