Scottsdale may soon be home to a 640,000 square foot hospital at the corner of Hayden Road and Loop 101. Banner Health is proposing the $400 million, 300-bed facility. The hospital would be the second phase of development on a 48-acre vacant parcel that Banner bought in March 2023 for $57.6 million.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports that the first phase of the project, a 120,000-square-foot Banner Health Care Plus facility, broke ground in May and is expected to be completed in early 2027. That three-story structure will include primary and specialty care physician services, urgent care, outpatient imaging and lab, and a Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The project’s architect is SmithGroup, and the general contractor is Okland Construction. Banner still needs the City of Scottsdale’s approval to move ahead.
Banner estimates that its entire project on that site will create 2,500 jobs and directly invest more than $750 million into Scottsdale’s economy.
