Family wagons from the early 2000s tended to be quite predictable and certainly more functional rather than exciting. Yes, they’d have a practical exterior and be part car and part SUV, but they certainly weren’t crossovers according to our more modern interpretation. Yet one manufacturer seemed ready to change that interpretation, and Audi surprised the waiting automotive world when it launched its Allroad.
