AT&T is expanding its Richardson footprint. The telecom giant will takeover seven floors of Lakeside Boulevard Tower in Richardson. The building owner, Provident is investing $15.8 million into the enhancement program. Construction has recently kicked off.
Earlier this year AT&T leased 186,000 square feet within the tower at 2221 Lakeside Blvd., taking 23% of the building. The expansion program means AT&T could grow its employee count at the tower to 1,400 — about 1,000 more than currently work there.
The facility will primarily serve as a call center, with employees anticipated to start moving into the space late this year, subject to the completion of construction work. A spokesperson for AT&T said the leases for the company’s two existing call centers in Richardson are set to expire soon, so it aims to relocate employees into an upgraded space and build in space for future growth.
Provident acquired the 807,000-square-foot Lakeside Boulevard Tower in November.
