Assassin’s Creed Shadows was a huge success for Ubisoft, and before the game’s official launch, the publisher confirmed that there would be an expansion coming for the game down the line. There’s now a confirmation on when the expansion will be available to play. On July 22, Ubisoft began sharing information about the game’s Summer content updates. This includes a series of small content additions as well as quality-of-life patches and even a new game mode.
The game’s entire roadmap for the remainder of the Summer has been laid out in front of players. So, whether you’ve already beaten it and put the game down for now, or you’re just getting started, there’s a lot of new and upcoming content to look forward to. If you haven’t picked up the game yet, you can find it on PlayStation and on Xbox, as well as on PC.
The Assassin’s Creed Shadows expansion, Claws of Awaji, releases in September
If you’ve already beaten the game and are starved for new content to play, Ubisoft has now confirmed the official release date of the Claws of Awaji expansion. It officially drops on September 16 of this year. That means there’s a little more than a month and a half left to wait.
According to the publisher, Claws of Awaji will have more than hours of new story content to dive into. That’s a significant amount, though not so massive that you might spend another month or two playing through it. The expansion will also include a new region to explore, a new enemy faction, new bosses, new outfits, and even new weapons and abilities.
If waiting until September 16 is going to be tough for you, there’s other good news. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is getting a New Game+ mode on July 29. That’s just a few days away. While New Game+ isn’t going to add new regions or several more hours of story, it will add some stuff. For example, the level cap is being raised to 80, and there will be more levels of knowledge points. Ubisoft is also adding new achievements and trophies to acquire.
Finally, at the beginning of September, there will be some quality-of-life improvements added in a free update. This includes being able to fast forward the time of day at will. You’ll also be able to unfog the world map. Technically, this was already in the game. However, you would have to explore every single corner of a region to unfog it. With this update, all you have to do is synchronize every viewpoint in a region. Upon doing so, the entire map of that region has the fog lifted.
