Think about the global average selling price of a phone these days. If you were to guess what the average price of a phone is around the world, would you guess it was around $400? If not, you’d be wrong. At least, that’s according to new data from Counterpoint Research that finds the global average selling price of a phone is at the $400 mark. That’s not very expensive for a phone here in the US, but it might be in other regions. The average selling price also doesn’t necessarily make those phones the best phones available.
It’s also important to note that Counterpoint is saying this is the average selling price for a phone around the world as of Q4 2025, not necessarily that this is the average price people are actually spending on a phone purchase globally.
This is the first time the global average selling price for a phone has surpassed the $400 mark
What’s perhaps more intriguing than the global average selling price is that this is the first time it has surpassed the $400 mark. Interestingly, the average selling price of phones below or close to that amount belongs to Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo. The average global price for phones from those manufacturers sits at $249, $258, $155, and $233, respectively. Meanwhile, the average global price of an Apple phone in Q4 2025 is listed at $942. This is compared to a slightly lower $934 in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Apple tops the smartphone revenue share for Q4 2025
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Apple has topped the smartphone revenue share globally for Q4 2025. According to Counterpoint’s findings, Apple is recorded at a whopping 57% smartphone revenue share for that time period. This is compared to 54% at the same time in 2024. The next highest out of Apple and the other four manufacturers mentioned above is Samsung at 11%, with Oppo at 5%, Vivo at 5%, and Xiaomi at 4%. Obviously, there are many more manufacturers, but Counterpoint is looking at the top 5 in this particular category.
