Apple spent nearly 45 minutes talking about iOS 26 during the keynote today at WWDC 2025. And that still wasn’t enough time to go over all the changes in iOS 26.
After perusing Apple’s website for iOS 26 Features, I noticed something pretty interesting for AirPods. Apparently, with iOS 26, you can use your AirPods as a remote for the camera video recording. Apple says that you can start recording a video from the camera app by pressing and holding the AirPods or AirPods Pro with the H2 chip.
That might sound like a pretty small feature, but honestly, it’s a pretty big deal. Especially for content creators. Being able to start a video by pressing and holding on your AirPods could be a game-changer. We’ll have to wait and see how this actually works.
iOS 26 beta is available today, with the iOS 26 release date being this fall.

iOS 26 brings in a new “Liquid Glass” design
Apple has redesigned iOS for the first time since iOS 7 back in 2013, and it’s actually a much bigger redesign this time around. Apple is using what they call “liquid glass” in this design. It’s based off of visionOS which first debuted in 2023, before being available in 2024.
A big reason for this redesign is to bring all of its platforms together, with the same sort of design and experience across devices. And with that, Apple was also able to update the naming scheme, so they all have the same number attached. Which, in this case, is iOS 26.
So far, it’s been a pretty polarizing redesign for iOS, with people either loving it or hating it. Though from what we’ve seen, more people are loving it, far more. So that’s good news for Apple.
