There are many companies out there that are 50, 100, or even 200 years old. But for tech companies, it’s a little harder to reach those milestones. Look at giants like Yahoo, BlackBerry, and Nokia. They all looked untouchable during their tenure, but where are they today? So, for Apple to announce plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary is impressive.
Apple announces 50th anniversary plans
In a letter posted onto Apple’s website, CEO Tim Cook announced plans to celebrate the company turning 50 years old. For those unaware, Apple was founded on April 1, 1976. This means that in a few weeks’ time, Apple will celebrate its 50th anniversary and has shared its plans to mark that milestone.
Before you get too excited, we don’t think there will be any new product launches. Those already happened a couple of weeks ago. Instead, according to Apple, “In the coming weeks, Apple and its global community will celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary, recognizing the creativity, innovation, and impact that people around the world have made possible with Apple technology.”
In his letter, Cook also wrote, “Thinking different has always been at the heart of Apple. It’s what has driven us to create products that empower people to express themselves, to connect, and to create something wonderful. As we celebrate 50 years, we are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey and who continues to inspire what comes next.”
He also added, “At Apple, we’re more focused on building tomorrow than remembering yesterday. But we couldn’t let this milestone pass without thanking the millions of people who make Apple what it is today.”
2027 will be exciting too
While Apple turning 50 is an achievement and somewhat exciting, 2027 is also a year fans can look forward to. This is because 2027 marks the 20th anniversary of Apple’s iPhone. If you’re looking for a more tangible celebration, this could be it.
According to the rumors, Apple has a special iPhone planned to mark the occasion. While the iPhone 18 might not see any huge design changes, 2027’s iPhone could. The rumors are saying we can expect an iPhone made out of mostly glass and metal. It could also be when Apple finally embraces in-display Face ID and a selfie cam. It might also be when Apple actually ditches the bezels for good.
