The health industry is a lucrative one. This is why companies like Apple, Google, and Samsung all want a piece of the pie. We’re talking about devices like smartwatches, smart rings, and apps designed to help users track their progress and provide metrics. Now, in a bid to unify the digital healthcare landscape, Apple and other tech giants have agreed to work with the White House.
Apple and Google works with the White House on digital healthcare
The White House has announced that it is working with more than 60 tech and healthcare companies. This includes Apple, Google, Amazon, OpenAI, and more to create a more unified digital healthcare system. This will see these tech companies work with the White House on how patient data and digital health tools work across the country.
According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), this effort will focus on “Promoting a CMS Interoperability Framework to easily and seamlessly share information between patients and providers.” It will also focus on “increasing the availability of personalized tools so that patients have the information and resources they need to make better health decisions.”
Ultimately, this will help give patients more control and have more access to their own health data. It will also make it easier to use that data across different providers and apps.
New health apps to look forward to
If you’re living in the US and want a better way to access your health data, this initiative could solve that problem. According to the government, 30 companies are expected to work on new consumer health apps. Some of these apps will give users access to better diabetes and obesity management.
We’re also looking at the use of conversational AI assistants. This will help patients check their symptoms, figure out care options, and schedule appointments. The initiative is also designed to help reduce the use of paper intake forms. It will give users the ability to check in digitally.
According to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., “For decades, bureaucrats and entrenched interests buried health data and blocked patients from taking control of their health. That ends today. We’re tearing down digital walls, returning power to patients, and rebuilding a health system that serves the people. This is how we begin to Make America Healthy Again.”
