Apple is preparing to launch its most significant Siri overhaul in years. Now, fresh details suggest the company is taking an “Apple-first” approach to its partnership with Google. While Gemini will provide the underlying brainpower for the new system, users might never actually see the Google name. Recent reports indicate that the upcoming version of Apple’s Siri will be a highly customized, unbranded experience as the firm is fine-tuning the Gemini AI model to feel like a natural extension of the Apple ecosystem, with no visible traces of Google.
No traces of Google: Apple takes full control of Siri’s Gemini AI engine
As The Information reports, a highlighting aspect of this rollout is the lack of third-party branding. Other integrations clearly label which AI model is at work. However, the current prototypes of the Gemini-powered Siri do not feature any Google or Gemini logos. Apple appears to be “white-labeling” the technology, fine-tuning the models independently to ensure Siri’s voice, personality, and responses. Basically, the firm wants the Gemini-powered Siri to align with its internal standards—not surprisingly.
This independence allows Apple to move beyond the traditional “here are some web links” approach. The new Siri is expected to provide direct, conversational answers to factual questions and navigate complex, “messy” requests. For instance, if you ask Siri to text your sister but don’t have her in your contacts, the AI can now look through past messages to figure out who you mean.
Emotional support and proactive help
Apple is also pushing Siri to do things that are more personal. The new model is being trained to give “emotional support,” which means that when a user says they feel lonely or stressed, it will respond in a more understanding and complete way. This gives the assistant a more human touch. However, it also puts Apple in a tricky spot when it comes to user safety and the moral limits that need to be in place for such personal interactions.
The update’s goal is to make Siri more proactive, not just talk. The assistant could automatically tell you to leave early for an airport pickup by using your Calendar and real-time traffic data. You wouldn’t have to set a reminder yourself. This “hybrid” method tries to combine basic tasks, like setting timers, with more complex reasoning. Apple’s Private Cloud Compute will keep all of this data safe while it happens.
The roadmap
Some features are expected to arrive as early as this spring. However, the full vision for a smarter Siri will likely be a gradual rollout. Advanced capabilities, such as the ability to remember past conversations or the more proactive features, are slated for a June reveal at WWDC 2026.
