It was just last month that Apple officially announced its latest iPhone 17 smartphones and the iPhone Air. The company also refreshed its AirPods Pro with a new foam tip and health features. But if you’re looking to upgrade another Apple device, it looks like the company might have three new products it plans to launch this week.
Three new M5 Apple products coming
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to announce three new products this week. However, it will most likely come in the form of an online announcement rather than a big in-person event.
What’s interesting is that this announcement could share one thing in common: the Apple M5 chipset. According to the report, the new iPad Pro and Vision Pro are expected to debut first, both powered by the M5 chip. This should result in pretty significant performance gains. Additionally, a refreshed MacBook Pro is likely on the way, though it may initially launch with only the base M5 chip.
Apple’s gradual rollout strategy means higher-end variants like M5 Pro and M5 Max models could arrive early next year. However, the base M5 models launching this week should provide plenty of power for most users. Those needing a bit more power will probably have to wait until 2026.
The M5 chip will be an upgrade over the current M4. It will most likely be built on TSMC’s N3P 3nm process, so we can probably expect improved power efficiency alongside a boost in performance. This might make it particularly appealing for users who rely on graphics-heavy workflows or demanding professional applications.
What to expect from the new devices
The new iPad Pro with M5 will likely look similar to the current model, with few design changes apart from possibly removing the “iPad Pro” branding on the back. However, it reportedly comes with a minimum of 12GB RAM, matching Apple’s high-end iPhone models. FCC filings suggest support for Wi-Fi 7, which would bring faster wireless connectivity than most Macs currently have.
The Vision Pro headset is getting an M5 chip update that should improve processing power and efficiency. Apple may bundle a more comfortable “Dual Knit Band” head strap and could offer a new Space Black color option. However, we have to wonder if these updates are significant enough to qualify as a full second-generation model.
As for the refreshed MacBook Pro with the base M5 chip, it is expected to keep the same chassis, mini-LED display, and port layout as the current M4 model. This is primarily a performance-focused refresh rather than a design overhaul. Early benchmarks show the M5 chip brings significantly improved GPU performance.
