Apple, through its American Manufacturing program, has been taking steps to bring more advanced manufacturing and critical component production to the US. In that direction, Apple has now announced its plans to spend millions more to boost US manufacturing. It is now committing an additional $400 million through 2030.

Furthermore, Apple has announced that it is working with Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, and Qnity Electronics to manufacture essential materials and components in the U.S. for Apple products sold around the world. The company believes that this will help create jobs and strengthen America’s manufacturing capabilities.Â
Apple has already committed to a $600 billion. The program’s initial partners include Amkor, Applied Materials, Broadcom, Coherent, Corning, GlobalFoundries, GlobalWafers America, MP Materials, Samsung, and Texas Instruments. Apple notes that they are all already achieving major milestones to expand advanced manufacturing in America and build a domestic supply chain.
New collaborations
Apple’s supplier TDK will manufacture sensors for Apple in the US for the very first time. Meanwhile, Apple, Bosch, and TSMC will work together to produce integrated circuits (ICs) for Bosch’s new sensing hardware at TSMC Washington in Camas, Washington. These ICs are essential for features like Crash Detection, Activity tracking, and elevation in Apple products.Â
Apple is also working with Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries to establish new semiconductor process technologies at GlobalFoundries’ facility in Malta, New York. The resulting component of this partnership will power Apple’s FaceID systems. Qnity Electronics and HD MicroSystems will also provide materials and technologies essential for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics. Apple also says that this collaboration will play an important role in its AI efforts moving forward.
For a long time, Apple has been working to reduce its reliance on international manufacturing. To that extent, the company is also taking steps to produce the Mac mini in the US. It has been producing the Mac Pro in Texas for about 18 years.Â
