Apple is turning 50 years old soon. That’s an amazing accomplishment for a tech company. We know there are companies a lot older, but for a company that started in tech and is not only still relevant, but a juggernaut in the space today, that’s impressive. So, it’s really to no one’s surprise that Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed the company plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Apple CEO says Apple will celebrate its 50th anniversary
According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple CEO Tim Cook told employees at an all-hands meeting last week that the company plans on celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Cook was quoted as saying, “I’ve been unusually reflective lately about Apple because we have been working on what do we do to mark this moment — 50 years. It’s an extraordinary accomplishment. We’ve been going back through old archives, old photographs. We’ve been going back through the products, the services, the people, and I am struck by how much Apple has changed things, how much Apple has changed the world, how much Apple has given to the world.”
He added, “Are we going to celebrate it? You better believe it. We’re not ready to say exactly how yet, so stay tuned. Yes. We’re not a culture that looks back. So the group of people working on this have had to kind of build a different muscle for this, as our muscle is always about what’s next. We’ve really had to work hard on this to get in a reflective state, but when you really stop and pause and think about the last 50 years, it makes your heart sing. It really does. I promise some celebration.”
So, how will Apple celebrate?
Right now, we don’t know how the company plans to celebrate being in existence for half a century. However, Cook did previously tease that AI could be part of it. Apple is working on an upgraded version of Siri that would be powered by Google’s Gemini. If the rumors are true, Apple could actually give us a little taste of that before the end of the month.
However, its actual release could be around March or April, which is when the company turns 50. Apple is rumored to have a lot of new products in the pipeline for 2026. We’re talking about a cheaper MacBook powered by the A-series chipset. Then, we’re looking at a possible launch of an OLED MacBook Pro by the end of the year.
Let’s not forget Apple is also planning to release its first-ever foldable. Either way, 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for the company.
