Google’s Androidify app has a history of its own. While the app was quite popular among Android fans, Google took it down from the Play Store back in 2020. Fortunately, the company revived the app earlier this month with some AI upgrades. Now, you can use the Androidify app to create a personalized Android Bot using photos and text prompts. You can use them as wallpapers, avatars, and more. What about placing those bots on watch faces, you may ask? Well, it’s not impossible but quite daunting. Thankfully, Google is working on an update for the Androidify app that lets you place personalized Android Bots on your Wear OS watch face.
Setting up personalized Android Bot watch faces is about to get easier as Androidify app gets Wear OS support
The news comes via Android Authority, which reported that version 1.2.1 of the Androidify app rolling out via Google Play Store, comes with Wear OS support. Interestingly, the latest version of the app has a hidden button on the “Customize and Export” page. The button in question also includes a smartwatch icon. When tapped, it opens up an option to install the Androidify app on the paired smartwatch.
The app apparently installs without any hiccups on the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. However, when tried on the OnePlus Watch 2R, the app failed to install. As you may know, the said Galaxy Watch runs on the latest Wear OS 6. Mishaal Rahman, in the report, points out that the Androidify app requires Wear OS 6 because “it uses the new Watch Face Push API.” The API in question actually allows setting watch faces directly to the watch app.
So, how do you set a watch face using the Androidify app? Well, after installing the app on your Wear OS smartwatch, the “Install Androidify” button changes to the “Send to watch” button. Once tapped, you can jump directly into choosing from various watch face designs. Some of the watch face designs are attached at the end of this article for you to check.
Once you are done selecting watch face design, the app does its magic and sets the watch face to your paired smartwatch. Finally, you’ll come across a permission menu on your watch where you should allow the app the permission to “change the active watch face.”
There’s no rollout timeline in sight
Although it’s good news for all those who love personalized watch faces, the feature isn’t live for users yet. Moreover, it’s unclear when Google will widely roll out Wear OS support for the Androidifiy app. We can only hope the company does it very soon, because the feature isn’t worth missing.
