OnePlus has started rolling out its Android 16 update ahead of time… well, kind of. As many of you know, the company will announce its Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 update on October 16. The company jumped the gun and started rolling out the beta version of OxygenOS 16 to OnePlus users, though only in a specific region.
Android 16 has started rolling out to OnePlus devices, but it’s not what you think
The OxygenOS 16 Open Beta program seems to be open for owners of the OnePlus 13 series, OnePlus 12 series, and OnePlus Open, but only in India. We’re very surprised this is already happening, considering that OxygenOS 16 hasn’t been officially announced yet.
In any case, users in India have to apply for a spot in the program if they want to get the update. Just to be clear, the OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 13R, and OnePlus 12R users are also a part of the fun. That means that a batch of 6 different phones is now eligible for this update.
Earlier today, we wrote about the OxygenOS 16 teaser that the company shared. In that teaser, OnePlus used the ‘So Fast. So Smooth’ caption, which is not surprising for the company. The teaser itself was not particularly revealing.
OnePlus Mind Space will get Google Gemini integration
All that we know thus far is that the OS should run very smoothly and that the OnePlus Mind Space will get Google Gemini integration. That much the company has confirmed up to this point.
We don’t know anything about any additional features or anything like that. We’ll likely have to wait until October 16 comes around, unless some of those Indian users with access to the beta build end up sharing the info beforehand.
Either way, we’ll get more information about OnePlus’ take on Android 16 in the near future, less than a week, actually. As a reminder, the OnePlus 15 is expected to launch in China later this month and arrive to global markets in mid-November.
