Google has started to roll out the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 update to its Pixel phones. This one follows the initial Android 16 QPR3 Beta update, which arrived last month, just before the holidays.
While we’re still some way from the stable launch of Android 16 QPR3 (expected in March 2026), this update should be fairly stable. Still, we would not recommend you to install it on your daily driver.
Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 brings a ton of fixes to the table
Google says that this update “addresses a wide range of stability, performance, and usability issues”. The company did include a changelog along with the update, so we know exactly what we’re getting.
It fixes an issue where the app drawer could become unresponsive when scrolling. Android Auto was also incorrectly logging extensive screen time, impacting battery life. That problem is now fixed, too.
Google also fixed some graphical glitches and performance degradation when interacting with the notification shade in full-screen or PiP modes. The company did that by improving display rendering.
If you’ve experienced battery drain, that should no longer be a problem
An excessive battery drain issue that happened overnight has been fixed, too. Google optimized the background process power consumption. An issue where the battery charging limit was not being respected is also a thing of the past now.
Some users also experienced slow internet speeds on Wi-Fi due to a Wi-Fi connection bug. That has been fixed, too. A delay and lack of feedback when switching audio outputs to speakerphone during calls should also not be there anymore.
Screen flickering is a thing of the past as well
Screen flickering when waking the device from Always-On Display has also been sorted out. Inconsistent or failed wireless charging and slow wired charging should not be a problem anymore, either.
Some other fixes have been listed by the company; you can check them out by clicking here.
This update is available for a ton of Pixel phones, including: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, as well as the Android Emulator.
