Amazon plans to spend $500 million converting a warehouse on Campbellton Road in Fulton County into a sorting and packaging facility. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that robotics technology would be used in the renovated warehouse to help store, package and fulfill customer orders.
A Fulton County planning agency is considering approving a $16 million tax break to support the project, which could create approximately 750 new jobs.
The company has been using the 153-acre site for 5 years, signing a 2020 lease for the facility. The warehouse, totaling 1.1 million square feet, was developed by Taylor & Mathis.
The project is estimated to generate approximately $36.2 million in taxes over the 10-year incentive period.
