Amazon has started rolling out a new update to its Fire TV devices, which brings a UI redesign and several other improvements. The new software design aims to place greater emphasis on content discovery while also simplifying navigation. The update will be initially available to United States residents and will gradually roll out globally.
Amazon Fire TV is rolling out a new update with a UI redesign
The updated Fire TV interface introduces a cleaner visual style with rounded corners, softer gradients, consistent typography, and more space between rows of content. The UI is designed to feel less cluttered and more intuitive. The update also pushes Fire TV beyond a simple TV launcher to become a central hub that helps users discover movies, television shows, live broadcasts, sports, and news from across platforms.
One of the most evident changes of the new update is expanded app pinning. Until now, users could only pin six apps to the home screen. The update pushes the number to 20. The UI supports more app pinning due to the new design that features smaller icons and improved spacing. The top navigation bar has also been simplified into clearly labeled categories with icons. Moreover, search is now placed in a more prominent position.
The update also brings smarter navigation and integrated AI features
The new update enables Fire TV to highlight personalized recommendations in rows labeled “For You.” The section will feature titles based on viewing habits and subscriptions. The Live TV section now centralizes streaming channels alongside broadcast or cable options for subscribers. Less frequently used features, such as Games, the Appstore, Music, and Settings, are tucked into a side menu. This makes sure the main screen remains focused on entertainment content.
Last but not least, the Alexa+ AI is now directly integrated into the UI. As of right now, the update is rolling out first to select Fire TV models in the United States. Broader device support and global release are planned in the coming months.
