Apple launched the current—or third generation—model of the Apple TV streaming device in 2022. The Cupertino tech giant is now planning to launch the Apple TV 2025 model in the coming months, according to MacRumors. The reports indicate that the next-gen streaming device from the company will offer an upgraded processor and the brand’s in-house connectivity chip.
The Apple TV 2025 model could launch with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity
According to a source familiar with the matter, Apple is planning to discontinue the current Apple TV device by launching the 2025 model soon. Previous reports have indicated that a new chip will power the upcoming model. The Apple A15 Bionic chip powers the current-gen Apple TV streaming box. We can expect the company to equip the new variant with either the Apple A18 chip from the iPhone 16 or the A19 from the iPhone 17.
In terms of connectivity, the Apple TV 2025 model could offer support for Wi-Fi 7 networks. Rumors suggest that it will also arrive with an Apple-designed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip. If we believe the reports, the new chip will improve connectivity and synchronization between Apple’s smart home products.
Apple’s new streaming device could have a reduced price tag
It’s worth mentioning that Mark Gurman at Bloomberg was the first to report that a new Apple TV device was in the works and would launch in 2025. We’ve only heard just a few times about the upcoming product from the Cupertino tech brand since then. Furthermore, last year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the company may reduce the selling price of the new streaming product to close the gap with the competition.
As per Kuo, Apple could price the new Apple TV 2025 product at around just $100. The current-gen model is available in two models: Wi-Fi with 64GB storage for $129 and Wi-Fi + Ethernet with 128GB storage for $149.
