Something strange seems to be happening in the American used car market, with luxury performance sedans that are more than a decade old changing hands for the same price as a new, mid-tier family car. Take the case of a first-generation Porsche Panamera Turbo S, for example, where you may need to pay more than $55,000 for one in mint condition and a lot more for a rare edition. By contrast, the average price of a new car in the US is just south of $49,000, so what’s going on?
